2024 PS5, PS4 Game Possibly Going Offline Following Dev Troubles

PS5, PS4 shooters

Another recent PS5 and PS4 game may possibly go offline. This time around, it’s Phoenix Labs’ cozy fantasy game, Fae Farm.

Fae Farm losing online support for Steam version may indicate the same for PS5, PS4 games

According to the recently updated Steam page for Fae Farm, the Steam version will go offline on September 10 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The game’s online cooperative mode will no longer be playable, nor will it receive updates after that date. Essentially, players have a month left to play the game alongside their friends. Single player will still be accessible, and the game can still be purchased.

Although it doesn’t give a specific reason for ending online support for Fae Farm, Phoenix Labs has, unfortunately, had layoffs recently. The last round occurred in January 2025, with the majority of the staff impacted. This also resulted in the studios shutting down its free-to-play Monster Hunter-like RPG, Dauntless.

It has yet to be announced if Fae Farm’s online functionality will no longer be supported on PS4 and PS5 platforms. As of right now, the game’s PS Store page has no indication that the game will lose support within the next month and both the Fae Farm and Phoenix Labs social channels have no updates regarding the matter. We will just have to wait and see.

When Fae Farm was originally released in 2023, it received decent review scores. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 75 across 47 critic reviews. It was released for PS4 and PS5 in October 2024, a little over a year after its original launch.

If Fae Farm’s potential offline future convinces players to want to check it out, there is a free demo for the game on the PS Store for both the PS4 and PS5 versions. The standard edition of the game is currently $29.99.
