Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC Announced, Arrives in April

Horizon Forbidden West is officially getting DLC, announced by developer Guerrilla Games in a trailer at The Game Awards.

Arriving on April 19, 2023, the Burning Shores DLC will take Aloy to Los Angeles, complete with the Hollywood sign on display (and immediately destroyed by a giant robot).

Forbidden West is the long awaited sequel to 2017’s Horizon: Zero Dawn and saw the return of protagonist Alloy as she explored, well, the forbidden west, which includes decrepit versions of cities including Las Vegas and San Francisco.

Released in February 2022, the sequel will follow in the footsteps of the original in getting a major expansion, as The Frozen Wilds DLC was released for Zero Dawn in November 2017.

Though Forbidden West did receive a ton of early updates to fix various technical issues and quality of life features, alongside a New Game Plus mode later in the year, this will be the first major DLC package coming to the game since its launch.

In our 9/10 review of the base game, IGN said: “A triumphant combination of enthralling combat, top-tier creature and character design, and a captivating open world, Horizon Forbidden West is an absolute blast and fantastic showcase for the power of the PS5.”
