Mario, Luigi, and Peach may have stood up to Bowser, but they can’t stop Barbie. The Margot Robbie-starring film will officially become the biggest movie of the year in the US today with over $574.2 million earned. That means it will jump over The Super Mario Bros. Movie at the domestic box office.
Deadline reports this could be the first time Warner Bros. is behind the top-grossing movie of the year domestically since 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The only competition remaining in 2023 seems to be another Warner Bros. flick with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Disney’s The Marvels.
