Volition, the Illinois-based game developer known best for creating the Saints Row series, has shut down. The studio marked its 30th anniversary this year.
In a post on LinkedIn, Volition said the closure was the result of parent company Embracer’s previously announced restructuring program. When the restructuring was announced, Embracer said layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations were to be expected.
Volition said it is providing job assistance and other help to affected developers. “We thank our customers and fans around the world for all the love and support over the years. You will always be in our hearts,” Volition said.
