Adult Swim announced Monday that new episodes of Rick and Morty will premiere globally starting on Sunday, October 15 at 11 PM ET/PT on Adult Swim. Adult Swim released a trailer for the upcoming season filled with more obscene sci-fi misadventures you can check out below.
The series reached over 19 million viewers in 2022 and remains a top series on Max. The animated hit has garnered two Emmys for Outstanding Animated Program and is currently nominated for a third. “It’s happening,” said Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen in a statement. “Thanks to the talent of the entire show team, we can all enjoy 10 new episodes that yet again raise the bar for comedy and animation. This season proves that the geniuses at work on Rick and Morty are just getting started.”
Fans will obviously recognize slight differences between the voice work of the titular Rick Sanchez and his nephew Morty Smith. Season 7 will be the first episodes without the writer-director/performer. Roiland is no longer in business with Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of Adult Swim, following allegations of abuse–said charges were dropped in January due to insufficient evidence. The new actors have captured the likeness well enough so it’s not terribly jarring.
