George R.R. Martin has shared insights on the much-anticipated second season of the Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon. In a blog post, Martin writes that co-creator Ryan Condal provided a preview of the first two episodes of House of the Dragon Season 2 and, without revealing spoilers, Martin emphasized the intensely emotional nature of the upcoming episodes.
Martin shared in his blog post that the episodes are “dark, mind you. Very dark. They may make you cry. Powerful, emotional, gut-wrenching, heart-rending. Just the sort of thing I like.” Fans familiar with the Fire & Blood book, which serves as the basis for the series, may not find this revelation surprising. The first trailer, released over the weekend, hinted at the impending Targaryen civil war that will be the central focus of the second season.
In the House of the Dragon Season 2 trailer, Otto Hightower acknowledges “errors were made” following King Viserys’s death. However, he omits any mention that these errors seemingly favored him. The new footage from the Game of Thrones prequel suggests that these benefits won’t bode well for Westeros.
