Nintendo Direct June 2024: All The Biggest Announcements

The last few weeks have seen some big PlayStation and Xbox livestreams, and now it’s time for the Nintendo Direct June 2024 livestream and all the announcements that come with it. A Nintendo Direct or a related livestream has been held every June since 2012, and this year’s edition will be focused on games being released in the latter half of 2024. Like previous livestreams during the Summer Showcase month, we’ll be covering this event live and you can periodically hit your F5 key to refresh this page to see the latest announcements.

The Switch games that we do know of for this year include Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. Then there are the unknowns, games without set release dates like Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Most of these will be 2025 games, and we’re hoping for a new trailer at the very least. On top of that, there are missing-in-action games like Metroid Prime 4 and Hollow Knight: Silksong. Could we finally get a tease of these highly anticipated titles? Or will we see Nintendo grow its Zelda library with a long-awaited port of Wind Waker? We’ll have to watch the stream to find out and possibly be disappointed.

Finally, you can count on third-party support for the Switch, as the system regularly sees dozens of indie games released on it every week. The Star Named EOS, Thank Goodness You’re Here, and Wild Bastards are just some of the many games that Switch owners can look forward to.

Mario and Luigi: Brothership

Kicking off the Nintendo Direct was Mario and Luigi: Brothership. Out on November 7, the game stars everyone’s favorite plumbers on a new island-hopping adventure.

Nintendo World CHampionships: NES Edition

A new trailer for the game showed off several more modes that players can take on. There’ll be over 150 speedrunning challenges, you can attempt to rise to the top of the leaderboards in the game’s Survival Mode, and you can put your skills to the ultimate test in Legend Challenges from across 13 NES games.

Fairy Tail 2

Based on Hiro Mashima’s popular Fairy Tail manga, Fairy Tail 2 adapts the final arc of the series as Natsu and his friends take on powerful forces in this action-RPG from Koei Tecmo and Gust.

Fantasian Neo Dimension

Ported over from Apple Arcade, Fantasian is on its way to Switch soon. With development led by by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and composer Nobuo Uematsu, Fantasian Neo Dimension contains English and Japanese voiceovers, an additional difficulty option, and a fun turn-based battle system full of unique gameplay mechanics. Visually, the game looks pretty great as it’s set against the backdrop of over 150 handcrafted dioramas.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

The king of Kong is back! First released on the Nintendo Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD includes all the original levels from that game and the extra levels from the Nintendo 3DS version. It’ll land on Switch on January 16.
