Batman: Caped Crusader Finds New Home At Amazon After HBO Max Cancellation

Amazon has picked up the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader after it was scrapped by HBO Max last August. The Hollywood Reporter was first to report.

The animated series will comprise two seasons and is expected to be a new take on Bruce Timm’s 1990’s Batman: The Animated Series. The show’s creative team includes Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves, and the 10-episode first season is being run by comic book writer Ed Brubaker.

The project was originally ordered to series in May 2021, and when first announced, the series was described by Warner as a “reimagining of the Batman mythology” that will feature “sophisticated storytelling, nuanced characters, and intense action sequences all set in a visually striking world.”
