Cyberpunk 2077 Now Boasts Its Own Take on the Wordle Phenomenon — Thanks to One Clever Modder

Like Cyberpunk 2077? Love Wordle? Then boy, is today your lucky day — Night City now boasts its own take on the Wordle phenomenon, thanks to one clever modder.

As spotted by RPS, Gonkle delivers a daily word puzzle to your in-game device once a day. And just like the game that inspired it, you get six guesses to solve the five-letter word. As the mod description confirms, it’s the same word for everyone, so “don’t be a gonk, keep your streak alive.”

The best bit, however, is not that you get two chances to play a Wordle-type game per day, but that the word list is manually curated and pulls from Cyberpunk sourcebooks, “so you’ll frequently get the CHOOM etc.” So if you’ve been looking for a way to boost your Cyberpunk lore knowledge or get better acquainted with the in-game lingo, now’s your chance.

For more, or to download the mod yourself, head on over to NexusMods. Be cautious, though — use it alongside the hugely popular Virtual Atelier Delivery mod, and Delivery Messages will break. The modder is currently working on a fix.

Will developer CD Projekt be so inspired by this mod that we might see something similar in Cyberpunk 2? Perhaps more likely is multiplayer, years after similar plans were scrapped for Cyberpunk 2077. Work on some kind of multiplayer component for Cyberpunk 2077 went on for years within CD Projekt, and was ultimately planned to arrive as a post-launch DLC. Ultimately, however, the offering was scrapped completely as a result of the game’s initially rocky launch, with priority instead placed on ensuring the base game worked as well as possible.

The post-launch support for Cyberpunk 2077 continues, meanwhile, with recent patches that have added significant new features. Could Cyberpunk 2077 go out with a bang this December with a new update to coincide with its five-year anniversary?

In the longer term, CD Projekt recently confirmed Cyberpunk 2 has moved into the pre-production phase of development. But don’t hold your breath — the developer has suggested it won’t release until late 2030 or even early 2031. Johnny Silverhand actor Keanu Reeves, however, has told IGN he’d love to reprise the role for Cyberpunk 2.
