Doom: The Dark Ages Announced, Coming 2025

As part of the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft and id Software officially announced Doom: The Dark Ages. Developer id Software, the creator of the series, is leading development on the game. It’s the first all-new entry in the series since 2020’s Doom Eternal. It’s coming in 2025.

A trailer showed the Doomslayer with slightly more medieval-looking spiked armor, using a variety of weapons to rip and tear his demonic opponents. Those included a sawblade that also acted as a shield, and a gun that appeared to use a human skull in its ammo chamber, and a medieval flail. Very metal. You’ll even be able to board the Atlan, a huge mech that’s able to take down behemoth-sized demons. This is said to be the Slayer’s origin story, going from the last hope of a kingdom to the demon-nightmare that we know him to be.

Like all of Microsoft’s games, Doom: The Dark Ages will be available at launch on Game Pass. A tweet that went up alongside the announcement noted that it’s also coming to PlayStation 5 and PC, in addition to Xbox Series X|S.
