Everything New In Fortnite OG Season 6

The cube melted into Loot Lake, making it red and bouncy, and that was it for Fortnite OG Season 5. Now, as we get started in OG Season 6, it’s starting to look like that adorable cube that rolled all over the island last season might actually be evil, as it’s about to unleash a plague of spooky extradimensional monsters all over the place.

Assuming it more or less follows the script set by the original version of the season, Fortnite OG Season 6 should be the mode’s best yet–with the cube’s ongoing activities and the arrival of the cube monsters making OG mode feel more alive than it ever has before. The original Season 6 also marked the first proper Fortnitemares event, so it’s pretty cool that they managed to time it to take place during 2025’s Fortnitemares, which also just started with the arrival of the KPop Demon Hunters.

A new season means new features to talk about, from the changes to the island and its loot pool, to the new OG Pass and live events you can expect to see this season. Let’s take a look.

Season 6 OG pass

The new OG Pass includes three fresh remixes of skins that were exclusively available from the original Season 6 pass: Calamity, Dire, and DJ Yonder. None of those is a particular surprise, especially after Epic gave out new kicks in DJ Yonder’s style for free to everyone who attended the first hour of Fortnite’s recent Daft Punk Experience. The pass costs 1,000 V-Bucks, and runs until November 29.

Fortnite OG Season 6 map changes

Season 6 doesn’t make a ton of changes to the island, as all the named locations stick around in the new season. What does change, however, is that the cube has corrupted a bunch of different locations around the island–and these places will be important when Fortnitemares begins.

Live events

In the original version of Season 6, the giant cube continued rolling around the island just like it did during the final stretch of Season 5–this time traveling to each of the areas around the island that have been corrupted with cube energy. During Fortnitemares, cube fragments were scattered around the island and spawned cube monsters. And after spooky season ended, the cube returned to Loot Lake and exploded, transporting all players to some other dimension where they met a bunch of rift butterflies.

All that happened in the middle of the season, and we expect them to be replicated in some way in Fortnite OG Season 6–though possibly with some changes. There was no live finale event during Season 6.

New Fortnite OG Season 6 loot pool

Unlike more modern seasons of Fortnite, those Chapter 1 seasons didn’t swap out half the loot pool the moment the in-game calendar changed. Instead, the basic pool of items stayed the same as it was at the end of the previous season, with new items being added gradually throughout the season instead of all at once. We don’t know exactly when everything will be added during OG Season 6, but you can learn about the new stuff below. They’re listed in the order that they were added to the original Chapter 1 Season 6.

Shadow Stones

Consuming these items turns players into a ghost that is nearly invisible and can traverse through walls and other obstacles for 45 seconds–a weirdly long amount of time for something like this. But the reason they last so long is because you can’t carry these with you–you have to eat them where you find them.

Chiller trap

The Chiller will freeze your feet if you walk on it, which can be very useful for going somewhere fast or making your enemies go sliding out into the storm during the endgame.

Quad Launcher

This is essentially the same thing as the standard rocket launcher, except it can load four missiles at once and has automatic fire. The rockets are still pretty slow, however.

Quad crasher

The shopping cart in Season 4 was Fortnite’s first vehicle, the golf cart in Season 5 was Fortnite’s first tolerable vehicle, and the Quadcrasher ATV in Season 6 is Fortnite’s first vehicle that’s actually fun.

Six Shooter

This revolver fires very quickly from the hip, and much more slowly and accurately when aiming down sights.

Pumpkin Launcher

For Fortnitemares, Epic tossed the Pumpkin Launcher back into the loot pool. This item is functionally identical to the standard Rocket Launcher, with the only difference being that it fires explosive, laughing Jack-O-Lanterns in place of rockets.

Fiend Hunter Crossbow

This crossbow is completely different from the sniper-like crossbow that was added in Season 2. The Fiend Hunter is a short-to-medium-range weapon that fires rapidly compared to the normal version.

Balloons

Use balloons to get height on your enemies–but if they pop, you’ll fall to your death, so be very careful.

Heavy AR

A slower-firing but harder-hitting version of the standard Assault Rifle, the Heavy AR is a beast at longer ranges if you’ve got the aim.

Dynamite

Dynamite is great for when you wanna add a little bit of chaos to your box fights, with its very large explosion radius and high damage to structures. Just be sure to cook the fuse a little bit before throwing it, or you might find that your enemy chucked your sticks of dynamite right back in your face.
