Louis Leterrier has been announced as the director for the next film in the Fast and Furious franchise, which will serve as a companion film to Fast X. Variety was first to report.
“We are thrilled that he will continue to work his magic in the director’s chair,” Peter Cramer, president of Universal Pictures, said in a statement. Given the circumstances, this quote and the announcement are both high praise–Leterrier replaced Justin Lin as director last May, a costly situation that came about suddenly in the middle of production.
Leterrier’s credentials include directing The Transporter, Clash of the Titans, and Now You See Me, as well as TV projects Lupin and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
