Earlier this year, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Li revealed that he’s attached to a film adaptation for Sleeping Dogs, the 2012 action-adventure game developed by United Front Games for Square Enix. It’s been several months since the last update, but according to Liu, the project has passed a new milestone.
In a post on X, Liu revealed that Sleeping Dogs has a new draft of the script, but he crossed out the writer’s name. He also shared a pic of his own sleeping dog to go with the news.

During a follow-up message, Liu wrote that Square Enix has been “absolutely great,” before adding “it’s the studios that don’t seem to understand how important this IP is. BUT we will get them there.”
