HBO Max has officially become Max, and the changeover has led to some technical difficulties for the streaming platform. There are reports of crashes and login issues across the board for the newly rebranded service from Warner Bros. Discovery.
Variety adds that users are voicing frustrations even using the new Max website. GameSpot has confirmed firsthand that the Roku app crashes, but we’ve still been able to access content through the old HBO Max app on Apple TV and iOS. A Warner Bros. Discovery spokesperson apparently turned down an opportunity to address how widespread the problems are with Variety.
The name change–HBO Max to Max–was officially unveiled last month and also brings Discovery+ content into the fold for the service. One of the reasons for the rebranding was to ensure HBO stays distinct. The merged subscription service was first discussed back in August 2022.
