During Netflix’s Drop 01 virtual event, Capcom, Studio MIR, and Castlevania showrunner Adi Shankar confirmed an all-new anime Devil May Cry series is on its way. This new series will have a different continuity than the previous anime series from 2007 from Shin Itagaki and Madhouse Studios. Shankar had secured the rights back in 2018 and revealed that the show’s first season will have 8 episodes.
The filmmaker also has plans for a connected “multi-season arc”, like what he did with Castlevania, and fan-favorite characters will make their debut throughout the series. You can check out the first look at the series which has the main character Dante showing off his firearms and fighting prowess.
“I’m honored that Netflix and Capcom have entrusted me to shepherd the Devil May Cry franchise,” Shankar said in a statement. “Alex Larsen and I love these characters, we are part of the fandom, and vow to surpass the exceptionally high bar we set for ourselves.”
