Nike Released GoldenEye 007-Inspired Sneakers, And They Quickly Sold Out

Nearly 27 years ago, GoldenEye 007 was a little too late to arrive alongside the James Bond movie that shares the same name. But it was just in time to become a breakout hit on Nintendo 64 and one of the most popular shooters ever made. Nike recently paid homage to one of 007’s best video games with a pair of sneakers, but if you didn’t grab them then you may have already missed your chance.

Via GQ, Nike released the Nike Air Max 1 Low Poly Big Head Mode sneakers earlier this week and they sold out almost immediately. The name is a reference to GoldenEye 007’s Big Head Mode, which gave Bond a comically oversized noggin.

According to GQ, the black leather overlays are supposed to be a visual nod to Bond’s iconic tuxedos, while the gold accents are a reference to the game’s Golden Gun. But the best reference to the game is actually on the back of the shoe, which surrounds the Nike Air logo with GoldenEye 007’s iconic health and armor bars.
