Pokemon Legends: Arceus Ultimate Gyarados Guide

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the player will be joining the Galaxy Expedition Team, likewise known as the Galaxy Team, as an important member of the Survey Corps to learn more about the Pokemon that reside in the Hisui region.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Ultimate Gyarados Guide

To finish the Hisui Pokedex, the game’s objective is for the player to capture every species of Pokemon in the vicinity. In addition, the all-powerful Arceus instructs the player to find and encounter every Pokemon in the region.

This guide will discuss everything you need to know about Gyarados!

Gyarados

Gyarados, the 81st Pokemon in the Hisuian Pokedex, is a Water and Flying-type Atrocious Pokemon with a long, blue, and cream-colored body that resembles a serpent, cream-colored spots on the side of its body, a pair of small eyes with red pupils, a large mouth with yellow lips and four visible pointed teeth, a single barbel, a pair of small white fins on both sides of its face, a dark blue crest with three points on its forehead, four, white spike dorsal fins, a tail that looks similar to the crest on its forehead but with white fins in between.

According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Gyarados’ true identity is suspected of a dragon described in ancient texts as destroying an entire village with white-hot beams from its maw.

Basic Information

Gyarados is a Water, and Flying-type Pokemon that has a weakness (super effective) to Rock-type and especially Electric-type moves, a resistance (not very effective) to the Bug-type, Fighting-type, Fire-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves, and an immunity (no effect) to Ground-type moves.

Gyarados’s base stats are 95 HP, 125 Attack, 79 Defense, 60 Special Attack, 100 Special Defense, and 81 Speed for a total of 540.

Gyarados can be evolved from a Magikarp once it has reached Level 20.

Springy Mushrooms, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans are Gyarados’ favorite foods. These foods and berries can be used as both food and a distraction before capturing or engaging in a battle with Gyarados while it is unaware.

When a Gyarados is beaten or caught in the wild, the player receives a Ball of Mud and a Pinap Berry.

Location

The player can encounter a Gyarados in the following areas:

In the Obsidian Fieldlands: in the waters of Lake Verity and flying above the Obsidian Falls.

In the Cobalt Coastlands: in the waters northeast of Sand’s Reach.

In the Coronet Highlands: in the waters southwest of Primeval Grotto.

The player can find Gyarados in the location mentioned above at all times of the day and in every weather condition.

It is important to mention that an Alpha Gyarados can be found in the western part of Lake Verity in the Obsidian Fieldlands. The Alpha Gyarados that can be found here is a Level 60 Pokemon.

Additionally, there is also a possibility that the player can find Gyarados in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Cobalt Coastlands.

Research Tasks

The following are the Research Tasks in Gyarados’s Pokedex entry:

Multiplier Research Task Objectives
x2 Number caught 1/2/4/10/15
x2 Number you have caught while they were in the air 1/2/3
Number defeated 1/3/6/12/25
Number you have defeated with Electric-type moves 1/2/6/12/25
Times you have seen it use Bite 1/3/8/20/40
x2 Times you have seen it use Hurricane 1/3/10/30/70
Times you have seen it use a strong style move 1/3/8/20/40
Number of different forms you have obtained 2

A Pokedex entry’s Research Level increases by one level each time one of a Research Task’s objectives is met. The Pokedex entry gains two Research Levels instead of only one upon completing a Research Task objective with an x2 multiplier.

A Pokemon’s Pokedex entry is complete when it reaches Research Level 10. The player can also gain Research Points by finishing Research Tasks and Pokedex entries.  If the player accumulates enough Research Points, their Star Rank in the Galaxy Team will increase.

To quickly complete Gyarados’s Pokedex entry, the player can catch the flying Gyarados above the Obsidian Falls in the Obsidian Fieldlands two times, then use one Gyarados in battle the move Bite three times. Doing all these will tick the first and second objective of the “Number caught” Research Task to gain four Research Levels thanks to its x2 multiplier; tick the first and second objective of the “Number you have caught while they were in the air” Research Task to add four more Research Levels because of its x2 multiplier and tick the first and second objective of the “Times you have seen it use Bite” Research Task to get the two Research Levels needed to get to Research Level 10.
