Developed by Full Circle and published by Electronic Arts, Skate has become incredibly popular since it was finally released in Early Access last month. As of this writing, it is the 20th most-played game on Steam according to SteamDB. Now that players have become more comfortable with San Vansterdam, the devs are changing things up with its first major update, which includes brand new content for players to enjoy.

Next Skate update is adding new free content

Beginning on October 7, Skate players will find new ways to skate in San Vansterdam thanks to its first slate of seasonal content. Titled Season 1: Hesh & Fresh, the first major title update will include new skateable areas, events, challenges, tasks, brands, soundtrack additions, and other improvements. Check out the new trailer below to see some of the new content, some of which will be free for all players.

To get into some specifics, the first season of Skate will feature new seasonal decorations at popular San Vansterdam locations, like The Orb and The Skateway. There will be two new events known as Skate-o-Ween and the annual 7-Ply Maple Harvest. Over 40 new challenges will be rotated in and out on a weekly basis. NHS brands Santa Cruz, Independent and Creature will now join its small roster of real-life brands. Its seasonal soundtrack rotation will include Bad Religion, Dinosaur Jr., and Ice Cube. Lastly, it will introduce the skate.Pass, the game’s version of a game pass, which will have a free and premium track featuring new cosmetic items.

Beyond the seasonal content, the new update will include a new visual update that will focus on lighting. Specifically, the world lighting will be adjusted to be less high contrast and feel “more grounded.”

Season 1 will last from October 7 to December 2. Season 2 will begin in December.

Skate is free-to-play on PS4 and PS5 and available to download on the PS Store right now.
