Popular PS4 Game’s Multiplayer Pulled, No Warning on PS Store

Players have been left frustrated as 505 Games has shut down online services for a 2016 PS4 game without notice. Players are warned that if they purchase popular racing game Assetto Corsa or any of its editions on the PS Store, they won’t have access to the advertised online features and won’t be able to unlock multiplayer trophies.

Assetto Corsa multiplayer shut down on PS4 but the game’s still listed on PS Store

Assetto Corsa offers single-player modes so those who aren’t into multiplayer won’t be bothered by this sudden development. However, it’s still a tad annoying that existing players weren’t warned of multiplayer closure in advance and 505 Games hasn’t worked with Sony to update the game’s PS Store listing.

Users on PSNProfiles dug around quite a bit and spotted a multiplayer closure notice on Assetto Corsa’s Japanese PS Store, but the game’s Japanese version was published by a different company than 505 Games.

“This is becoming an irritating trend because there were two other games not that long ago where the only shutdown notices were in the Japanese Store but nowhere else,” wrote user HuntingFever.

Assetto Corsa’s base game currently costs $29.99 on the PS Store and its Ultimate Edition costs $39.99. The game comes with a bunch of add-ons including a $19.99 Season Pass.
