Similarly to Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members get access to hundreds of games via the Game Catalog perk. Today, Sony announced the next slate of games coming to the Game Catalog, which includes one of the most popular open-world RPGs of the past decade.
PS Plus Game Catalog adds Cyberpunk 2077
Developed by the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is heading to the PS Plus Game Catalog. The best part is Extra and Premium subscribers won’t have to wait long to begin their adventure in Night City. Starting today, July 9, members can begin playing the open-world RPG at no additional cost.
“Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action-adventure from the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red,” reads the game description on the PS Blog post. “Set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification, you play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. Customize your character and playstyle as you take on jobs, build a reputation, and unlock upgrades. The relationships you forge and the choices you make will shape the story and the world around you.”
Despite Cyberpunk 2077 now being lauded by many players, its launch on PS4 was very rough. It was shipped in such a bad state that Sony pulled it from the PS Store. After many updates, the game had a sort of redemption arc where more players were singing its praises rather than admonishing its flaws.
According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, Cyberpunk 2077 has reached an average score of 86 across 92 critic reviews. Its expansion, Phantom Liberty, was received a bit more favorably, granted, it was released after the game was fixed. It garnered an average score of 89 across 54 reviews.
