PS6 Will Be Slightly Less Powerful Than Next Xbox, Leak Suggests

PS6 vs next-gen Xbox

A reliable leaker has claimed that the difference in power between PS6 and next-gen Xbox will roughly be the same as current generation. If true, this means that PS6 will be slightly less powerful than the new Xbox console.

Next-gen Xbox might be more powerful than PS6, but does it matter?

The leaker in question is none other than KeplerL2, who has a pretty good track record. According to them, the PS6’s power is comparable to AMD Radeon RX 9070XT whereas next-gen Xbox’s power will be comparable to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5080.

Estimates suggest that this translates to a power difference of around 20%, which is similar to the difference between the PS5 and Xbox Series X, with the latter being slightly more powerful.

Back in 2024, Xbox executive Sarah Bond said that Microsoft‘s next console is aiming to deliver the “largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation,” but how much that matters in the grand scheme of things remains to be seen.

If the current generation is any indication, Xbox’s slight edge in the power department didn’t make any difference. PS5 continues to dominate the market, and as long as games take advantage of what PS6 has to offer, Sony won’t be impacted by its rival’s tech specs.

What impact each console’s specs will have on their price also remains to be seen.
