A recent report from a noted Resident Evil leaker claims the series’ next remake will be treated like a “big budget mainline” entry and will be developed by many of the people behind the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake being treated like a “big budget mainline” entry
According to Dusk Golem on X (formerly Twitter), they state the Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake will be treated as if it were a mainline entry in the series. As stated above, some of the people behind Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes, both of which were very well-received by critics, will handle the project.
“For what it’s worth, from what I’ve heard a few times now actually, Code Veronica Remake not only is being handled by a lot of the same people as RE:2 & RE:4, but it’s being treated as a big budget mainline Resident Evil game in every way,” said Dusk Golem in their X post.
A remake for Resident Evil: Code Veronica has yet to be announced, which makes sense considering the next entry is Resident Evil Requiem, which features Grace Ashcroft as the protagonist. While this supposed remake is probably a ways out, Dusk Golem also suggests a time frame for when it could be revealed.
“I guess the one thing I’ll say is it’s very, very likely Code Veronica gets announced next year as part of the 30-year anniversary celebration alongside RE9,” said Dusk Golem on a separate X post.
Although rumors surrounding a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake have been swirling for a while, take this information with a grain of salt right now. It is entirely possible that Capcom remakes this 25-year-old game, considering how important it is to the series’ lore. However, development on games can change at any point, nullifying any of this information. We’ll just have to wait and see if any of this comes to fruition.
