Rumor That Sony Canceled an Upcoming PS5 Game Is False

PlayStation Sony

Recently, some rumors have been making their way around the internet claiming that Sony’s upcoming PS5 game, Fairgames, was canceled following Jade Raymond’s departure from Haven Studios. However, it has just been confirmed that the online shooter is still in the works.

Upcoming PS5 game Fairgames is not canceled

In a recent episode of Pachter Factor, analyst Michael Pachter claimed that Fairgames was canceled after Raymond left the studio earlier this year. However, content creator Destin Legarie reached out to Pachter to confirm if this was true. It turns out Pachter misspoke, and the game is currently still in the works.

“I misspoke,” Pachter to;d Legarie. “Said Jade was let go, and assumed it was cancelled. I have to info on the game at all. Feel free to quote this, I truly don’t know.”

Bloomberg reported that Raymond had left Haven Studios, a studio she founded, back in May. Details on why she separated herself from the developer are unknown, but journalist Jason Schreier claimed she left “several weeks” after an external test of Fairgames did not go well. PlayStation’s statement on the matter only had good things to say about Raymond.

“Jade Raymond has been an incredible partner and visionary force in founding Haven Studios,” a PlayStation representative told the publication in a statement. “We are deeply grateful for her leadership and contributions, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter.”

Shortly after Raymond’s departure, podcaster Colin Moriarty claimed that he had heard the game “doesn’t feel good to play” and is “super clunky.”

A PS5 release date for Fairgames has yet to be revealed. However, according to industry insider Jeff Grubb, the game has slipped to a 2026 release for now due to the undeniably lackluster state of PlayStation’s live-service slate.
