A machine-learning engineer by the name of Santiago has integrated the ChatGPT Artificial intelligence into a Boston Dynamics robot dog (AKA Spot), creating an experimental machine to help better process the raw data that these robots gather on missions. According to Santiago, the machines run missions every day and ChatGPT allows the engineers to more efficiently query the data from those operations.
“We can now ask the robots about past and future missions and get an answer in real-time,” Santiago tweeted. “ChatGPT interprets the question, parses the files, and formulates the answer. Massive upgrade!”
Of course, this isn’t a case of simply installing ChatGPT into a robot and getting immediate results. As seen in the video, Santiago and the team had to create specific terms and routines for ChatGPT to function properly within Spot. The end-results are impressive, as combined with Google text-to-speech, Spot can provide valuable feedback and can accept commands, delivering the relevant information that the team requires from its daily walks.
