Todd Howard is known for his work at Bethesda Game Studios on role-playing games, including the soon-to-be-released Starfield, but the developer’s most-played game of all time is something totally different.
He told BAFTA in a new video interview (below) that his most-played game ever is the NCAA Football series. “My most-played game of all time, believe it or not, is probably the American football series. NCAA Football is a game I’ve probably put more hours into than any other game series,” he said.
Before this, Howard told Lex Fridman that NCAA Football 14–which was the final entry in the series–is the best sports game of all time. He also spoke about the difficulty that sports game developers face. “When you have to recreate something that’s real–say it’s cars or sports games–everybody knows how it should work. That’s a really difficult task,” he said.
