For over two decades, One Piece has been one of the hottest manga series around, and thanks to a long-running anime adaptation and the excellent live-action One Piece on Netflix, there’s never been a better time to get acquainted with Monkey D. Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates crew.
Naturally, there’s a lot of catching up to do if you’re diving into the manga source material, but the good news is that collected volumes of author Eiichiro Oda’s work are never in short supply. Best-sellers in various formats, you can easily jump into the world of One Piece, with each volume showcasing the imaginative art, gripping storylines, and fascinating power struggles of explorers seeking fame and fortune on the Grand Line in an effort to be crowned the next King of the Pirates.

As an entry point, you can check out the East Blue and Baroque Works saga, which comprises the first 23 volumes of the manga. The East Blue saga is what the Netflix show adapted, and Baroque Works saw Luffy explore various kingdoms before his eventual clash with one of the first major antagonists of One Piece, Crocodile.
