The Super Mario Bros. Movie has passed another massive box office milestone. The animated film has cleared $500 million in North America, and it joins rare company.
Only three movies before this had made $500 million or more in North America since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic–Spider-Man: No Way Home ($814.1 million), Top Gun: Maverick ($718.7 million), and Avatar: The Way of Water ($683.9 million).
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is also the first animated film from Illumination and Universal to reach $500 million stateside, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
