This year’s THQ Nordic Digital Showcase featured several new reveals and updates for the publisher’s upcoming slate of video games. Most notably, the fan-favorite series Darksiders officially made its return as the next entry, simply titled Darksiders 4 (stylized Darksiders IIII), was revealed.

Developed by Gunfire Games and published by THQ Nordic, Darksiders 4 is the next installment of the hack and slash series that was introduced during the PS3 era. It will allow players to become one of the four legendary Horsemen, each with their own unique weapons and abilities. The trailer, which can be seen below, doesn’t show much, but does give a glimpse of all four horsemen riding together.
“The legendary saga of the Four Horsemen continues in Darksiders 4, an all-new action-adventure set in an apocalyptic version of earth and continues where the original Darksiders game left off,” reads the game’s official description.
“Darksiders 4 is a 3rd person action adventure game featuring combat, traversal and puzzle solving in a lore rich post apocalyptic world,” continues the official description.
Gunfire Games has worked on the Darksiders series for the past decade. They began working on the franchise with Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, which is a remastered version of the critically acclaimed game. The developer also worked on its wholly original entry, Darksiders 3, which was met with middling reviews. The company is now more known for its cooperative action RPG, Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant II.
The THQ Nordic Digital Showcase featured some other games from the publisher’s catalog of franchises. This includes a brand-new SpongeBob SquarePants 3D platformer titled SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide and a remaster of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.
A release date for Darksiders 4 has yet to be revealed, but players can expect it to launch on the PS5.
