Sony has had quite a few PlayStation State of Play presentations this year. From showcases that reveal multiple games coming to PS5 in the future, to in-depth looks at highly anticipated titles, there has not been a shortage of PlayStation’s video presentations. According to a reputable insider, the next State of Play is happening sooner than you might think.

Industry Insider claims Sony planning next State of Play for September

In a recent episode of Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Mornings!, host Jeff Grubb mentions that Sony is planning a PlayStation State of Play for September.

“I’ve heard . . . they’re planning a State of Play, or maybe a showcase, but probably a State of Play for the end of September, or before the end of September.”

Sony has yet to say anything about a September PlayStation State of Play, and the company typically announces them close to when they premiere. So we probably won’t hear if the presentation is actually happening until the end of September at the very latest.

In terms of what will be there, Grubb believes that we won’t see Fairgames there. Considering the studio head, Jade Raymond, left this year, it won’t not be surprising if the game isn’t featured in a future PlayStation State of Play.

Speaking of Fairgames’ cancellation, it turns out that it is not canceled. In a recent episode of Pachter Factor, analyst Michael Pachter stated that the upcoming live-service shooter was canceled following Raymond’s departure from Haven Studios. However, he later gave content creator Destin Legarie a statement saying he “misspoke.”

Like any rumor like this, take it with a grain of salt. Sony might be planning a PlayStation State of Play for next month, but plans can always change. Grubb does have a good track record, so it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility. We’ll just have to wait and see if it comes to fruition.
