One of the best games to release last year on PS5 was Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, essentially bringing new life to the long-running franchise. Ubisoft intends to maintain the hype for the franchise, as it just shadow-dropped the follow-up to the 2024 Game of the Year contender, The Rogue Prince of Persia.
The Rogue Prince of Persia releases on PS5 today
Developed by Evil Empire, The Rogue Prince of Persia will supposedly release on PS5 today, according to Ubisoft. However, the link to its PS Store page errors out, so there is no way to actually purchase the game just yet. However, it is available on PC and Xbox Series X|S at $29.99, so players can expect to pay that much when it inevitably comes to PlayStation’s digital storefront.
As some may have gathered by its name, The Rogue Prince of Persia is a 2D action platformer rogue-lite, where players take the role of the Prince as he attempts to save Persia from its invaders. Like all rogue-lites, death isn’t necessarily a bad thing. As players discover more each run, the more opportunities there are to progress with permanent upgrades, new weapon unlocks, and more.
Here is a brief description of The Rogue Prince of Persia:
“Dive into a thrilling and epic adventure, where every action pulses to the heady rhythm of an intense soundtrack. Master fluid, acrobatic, and responsive combat, paired with challenging parkour. Death after death, forge your own playstyle – through exploration and encounters, perhaps you’ll find a way to right your wrongs and save the Persian kingdom envisioned by Evil Empire.”
It seems Ubisoft is attempting to release a Prince of Persia game annually. At least between 2024 and 2026. As mentioned earlier, the critically lauded Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was released in 2024. Today, in August 2025, the 1.0 release of The Rogue Prince of Persia is available. Back in June last year, Ubisoft claimed the highly anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake would launch in 2026.
