Some PS5 players are still trying to wrap their heads around a UI update that now lets them display a game tile for one of Xbox’s hottest franchise. Gears of War: Reloaded was announced a while ago, and as we draw closer to its release date, an increasing amount of players are proudly displaying the preloaded game on their PS5 home screens.
PS5 players can now update their game tiles to add Gears of War: Reloaded
PS5 players can preload Gears of War: Reloaded now ahead of its August 26 launch date. While this isn’t the first or the last big Xbox franchise to land on PlayStation, it’s arguably one of the most popular ones thus far.
It’s no surprise, then, that dozens of threads are popping up on gaming forums and social media, with players expressing how “surreal” it feels to actually see Gears of War on their PlayStation consoles.
“I never thought I’d ever be playing Gears of War on a PlayStation,” wrote one fan. “Crazy times we’re living,” wrote another. Fellow commenters added similar sentiments.
As someone who’s seen the bizarre console wars that picked up steam during the PS3 / Xbox 360 era, I can see why players feel this way. It certainly is “surreal” seeing what is arguably one of Microsoft’s biggest, most popular gaming IPs on the PS5.
Will we ever see Sony’s GoW (y’know, God of War) on an Xbox console?
