When Dontnod Entertainment and Square Enix launched Life is Strange in 2015, it helped shape the modern adventure game genre. Since that initial release, the series has seen multiple entries that follow young adults with unique superpowers, like time travel and the ability to read and manipulate people’s emotions. According to a recent leak, it seems the first three entries will receive native PS5 ports.

First three games from adventure series Life Is Strange likely getting native PS5 ports

Life is Strange Remastered, Life is Strange: Before the Storm Remastered, and Life is Strange 2 Complete Season have all been rated by the ESRB for the PS5. Although the PS4 versions of these games are playable on the current-gen PlayStation console, these will be native ports for the PS5, which means they could potentially take advantage of the improved bells and whistles of the console.

The PS4 versions of Life is Strange Remastered and Life is Strange: Before the Storm Remastered are only bundled as the Life is Strange Remastered Collection on the PS Store. So, it isn’t quite clear if these PS5 versions will follow suit or will be offered a la carte. It also isn’t known if owners of the PS4 version will have some sort of upgrade path to the PS5 version.

When Life is Strange was originally released, it garnered an average review score of 85 according to Metacritic. Life is Strange: Before the Storm averaged a 77, while Life is Strange 2 averaged a 78. In our review of Episode 5 of Life is Strange, we gave it a 9 out of 10: “It’s a great ending to a great game, and might possibly be called the best episode of the bunch. Episode 5 is the reason why you should buy Life is Strange if you haven’t already, and it’s the reason why you should hurry up and finish it if you already own it.”
