The PlayStation Store has literally hundreds of PS4 and PS5 demos to check out for free. Players typically don’t even need a subscription to Sony’s online gaming service, PS Plus, to download them. Such is the case with this demo of a weird PS5 game perfectly suited for October.

Horror game Dark Atlas: Infernum gets free PS5 demo just in time for Halloween

Dark Atlas: Infernum is an upcoming horror game from developer Night Council Studio and publisher Selecta Play. Like many modern horror games, it appears to be influenced by titles like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Slender, and Layers of Fear. Specifically, it’s a first-person game that looks to have some light puzzle components, a scary presence chasing after you, and an emphasis on narrative. Anyone interested can check out the trailer below to see it in action.

“Hear the voice in your head that haunts and tortures you. Follow its commands to the edge of the world,” reads the description. “Embrace the darkness in Dark Atlas: Infernum, a first-person horror experience where you must remember who you are, stop the apocalypse, and face your demons.”

“As Natalia Asensio, Grand Master of an ancient esoteric order, society collapses around you with the appearance of ghosts and the shattering of dimensional barriers,” continues the description. “Trapped in a dusty basement, drugged and barely remembering your identity, you must engage in a battle of wills that could open the gates of hell.”

Just from the trailer above, Dark Atlas: Infernum looks pretty janky. There is a specific frame where the player is following a fireball that looks like it’s running at around 15 frames per second. But that’s the beauty of game demos. Players can see if the game is worth a full purchase or if they should just save their cash for something else.
