With Hideo Kojima having moved on to greener pastures, a lot of people are wondering what will happen with the Metal Gear Solid franchise that belongs to Konami.
As it turns out, a rumor has suggested that a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 could be announced at the upcoming PlayStation Showcase, and it could be revealed as a PS exclusive. This news has been corroborated by Windows Central’s Jez Corden:
If anything, this news also lines up with the rumor that came out a month ago that says that a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 would be announced soon. With Konami leaning in on the remake of their most successful franchises like Silent Hill, it would also make sense that the studio would be looking to come back to Metal Gear, especially now that Kojima won’t be making any new MGS games for them anytime soon.
As far as PlayStation exclusivity goes, it would make sense that PlayStation would want to nab the license for any huge game IPs. They already have exclusivity to Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding and the new Final Fantasy games, so a lock on Metal Gear Solid would be a something expected.
Then again, this is all just based on rumors, so we’ll just have to wait for the PlayStation Showcase to find out what’s what.
A remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 has not been officially announced. The PlayStation Showcase is expected to take place later this month.
