Pokemon Legends: Arceus Ultimate Zubat Guide

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a semi-open-world action role-playing game set in the historic Hisui region (modern-day Sinnoh) that adds a new twist to the well-known series. Rather than battling in Pokemon Gyms like the other main Pokemon games, the player in this one will join the Survey Corps to research the Pokemon found in the Hisui region thanks to the Galaxy Expedition Team, also known simply as the Galaxy Team. The player’s primary responsibility is to complete the Pokedex by catching and learning about all the Pokemon in the area.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Ultimate Zubat Guide

This guide will discuss everything you need to know about Zubat in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!

Zubat

Zubat, the 34th Pokemon in the Hisuian Pokedex, is a Poison and Flying-type Bat Pokemon with a blue body that looks like that of a, well, bat, a face with no eyes and nose but has a wide mouth with two visible sharp teeth on each jaw, a pair of triangular ears with purple interiors, a pair of wide wings with purple membranes that is supported by two long fingers, and a pair of very thin and long tails.

According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Zubat lives in gloomy caves and, because of its atrophied eyes, becomes blind. As a result, it scans its environment through sound waves emitted from its mouth as it flies.

Basic Information

Zubat is a Poison and Flying-type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Electric-type, Ice-type, Psychic-type, and Rock-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Fairy-type, Poison-type, and especially Bug-type, Fighting-type, and Grass-type moves, and immunity (no effect) to Ground-type moves.

Zubat’s base stats are 40 HP, 45 Attack, 35 Defense, 30 Special Attack, 30 Special Defense, and 55 Speed, for 245.

Zubat will evolve into a Golbat when it reaches Level 22, which will then evolve into a Crobat when it reaches a high Friendship Level.

As for Zubat’s preferred foods, it likes Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans. These can be great foods to throw toward Zubat if the player wants to feed it food or to distract it before catching it.

The player will get a Spoiled Apricorn and a Chesto Berry, which Zubat will drop once caught or defeated in the wild.

Location

The player can find a Zubat in these locations:

In the Obsidian Fieldlands: around Deertrack Path, The Heartwood, Nature’s Pantry, and Oreburrow Tunnel.

The Crimson Mirelands: in Bolderoll Slope, around Diamond Heath and Cloudpool Ridge.

In the Coronet Highlands: in Heavenward Lookout and inside Wayward Cave.

In the Alabaster Icelands: inside Snowpoint Temple.

Zubat can be in these locations in every weather condition but can only be found here at night (nightfall).

Aside from that, Zubat can also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Obsidian Fieldlands.

Research Tasks

The following are the Research Tasks in Zubat’s Pokedex entry in Pokemon Legends: Arceus:

Multiplier Research Task Objectives
x2 Number caught 1/3/6/12/25
x2 Number caught during daylight hours 1/2/5/10/20
Number defeated 1/3/6/12/25
Number you have defeated with Rock-type moves 12/4/6/10
Times you have seen it use Gust 1/3/6/12/25
Number of different forms you have obtained 2
x2 Number you have evolved 1
x2 Investigated Zubat’s knack for navigating in the dark 1

A Pokemon’s Pokedex entry must have a Research Level of 10 to be deemed complete. The player can increase the entry’s Research Level by one by completing one of a Research Task’s objectives. Furthermore, the entry receives two Research Levels rather than one for completing a Research Task objective with a multiplier of x2.

To quickly complete Zubat’s Pokedex entry, the player can catch six Zubats, then defeat three more using Rock-type moves. These will tick the first, second, and third objectives of the “Number Caught” Research Task and raise six Research Levels because of its x2 Multiplier; tick the first and second objectives of the “Number Defeated” Research Task to add two more Research Levels,  and tick the first and second objectives of the “Number you have defeated with Rock type moves” Research Task to gain two more Research Levels, for a total of Research Level 10

Moves

Zubat may pick up new moves from the Training Grounds or by leveling up.

Zubat may learn and master the following by leveling up:

Training Grounds

By talking to Captain Zisu in the Training Grounds, found in the northwest corner of the Jubilife Village, Zubat may learn these moves:

Relevant Request

Zubat is involved in Request 9, called “Zubat’s Eyes,” Completing this request also ticks the objective of the “Investigated Zubat’s knack for navigating in the dark” Research Task.

To unlock this request, the player must do the following:

  • Receive the ‘A Request from Mai’ Mission (the game’s fifth mission), where the player visits the Training Grounds for the first time and battles Akari or Rei.
  • Encounter a Zubat by catching it or battling against it.

After accomplishing all that, the player can now accept the request by heading to the Galaxy Hall, going to Professor Laventon’s room on the left side of Captain Cyllene’s office, and there is a blackboard where the player can accept requests just behind Professor Laventon.

Press the A button to interact with the blackboard, and select Zubat’s Eyes’ request on the prompt. Just like that, the ‘Zubat’s Eyes’ request has started!

After that, head to the west of the village near the farm, and there the player will find a member of the Security Corps named Clarissa patrolling near the houses. Talk to Clarissa, and she will ask the player to catch a Zubat for her because she wants to examine how Zubats can fly easily even though their environment is very dark.

Catching Zubat

The player must now catch a Zubat. As mentioned above, Zubat can usually be found in the Obsidian Fieldlands (Deertrack Path, The Heartwood, Nature’s Pantry, and Oreburrow Tunnel), in the Crimson Mirelands (Bolderoll Slope, Diamond Heath, and Cloudpool Ridge), in the Coronet Highlands (Heavenward Lookout and Wayward Cave), and the Alabaster Icelands (Snowpoint Temple). It is important to note that Zubat can only be found at locations mentioned at night

However, the easiest place to find a Zubat is in Deertrack Path in Obsidian Fields because it is accessible early in the game and is where you can find a Zubat closest to Jubilife Village.

After catching a Zubat, head back to Jubilife Village and talk to Clarissa, still found at the west of the village near the farm and patrolling near the houses. After looking at the Zubat, she will realize that it doesn’t have eyes and that perhaps it has a secret sense if it doesn’t require them. Finally, Clarissa will look for a Zubat to be its partner.

Then, the ‘Zubat’s Eyes’ Request is completed, and the player will be rewarded with two Aux Powers for their efforts.

Zubat has the potential to be a helpful ally and aid to the player in Pokemon Legends: Arceus when undertaking missions, requests, or Arceus’ quest for the player to catch ’em all!
