Pokemon Legends: Arceus Ultimate Mothim Guide

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the player joins the Galaxy Expedition Team, also known as the Galaxy Team, as a member of the Survey Corps to research the Pokemon found in the Hisui region as opposed to participating in Pokemon Gyms and becoming a Champion like in the other mainline Pokemon Games. One of the player’s main responsibilities is to finish the Pokedex by catching and studying every species of Pokemon in the area.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Ultimate Mothim Guide

This guide will discuss everything you need to know about Mothim in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!

Mothim

Mothim, the 45th Pokemon in the Hisuian Pokedex, is a Bug and Flying-type Moth Pokemon that has a body that resembles a moth, a head with two orange, semi-circular eyes with black pupils, a pair of white antennae with orange tips that are connected to the inner side of its eyes, a black body with a bottom side that is colored orange, a gray stripe on its back, two pairs of yellow wings with one pair of wings larger than the other and with orange, oval markings, orange squares on the tips of the wings (three on the top pair and two on the bottom pair of wings), four small, gray, and stubby legs, and a small tail that looks similar to the tips of its bottom pair of wings but are colored black.

When Mothim flaps its wings, it scatters steel-colored scales, according to its Pokedex entry in the game. Furthermore, although Mothim feed primarily on flower nectar, they are rarely seen in flower gardens.

Basic Information

Mothim is a Bug and Flying type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Electric-type, Flying type, Fire-type, Ice-type, and especially Rock-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Bug-type and especially Fighting-type and Grass-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Ground-type moves.

Mothim’s base stats are 70 HP, 94 Attack, 50 Defense, 94 Special Attack, 50 Special Defense, and 66 Speed, for a total of 424.

Mothim evolved from a male Burmy when it reached Level 20. A female Burmy evolves into a Wormadam when it reaches Level 20.

Mothim’s favorite foods are Springy Mushrooms, Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans, and they are great to throw at it to entice it before catching, engaging in a battle with it, or just feeding it.

The player receives a Spoiled Apricorn and a Dazzling Honey when a Mothim is captured or killed in the wild.

Location

The player can find Mothim in these locations:

The Obsidian Fieldlands: in Grueling Grove

In the Cobalt Coastlands: in Ginkgo Landing, around Aipom Hill, west of Veilstone Cape, and Spring Path.

In the Coronet Highlands: in Wayward Wood.

Mothim can be in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition.

It is worth mentioning that the Mothim found in Spring Path in the Cobalt Coastlands and Wayward Wood in the Coronet Highlands are Alpha Pokemon that can also be found here at all times of the day and in every weather condition.

The Alpha Mothim in the Cobalt Coastlands is a Level 56, while the Alpha Mothim in the Coronet Highlands is a Level 55.

Research Tasks

The following are the Research Tasks in Mothim’s Pokedex entry in Pokemon Legends: Arceus:

Multiplier Research Task Objectives
x2 Number caught 1/2/4/10/15
Number you have caught without being spotted 1/2/4/6/10
Number defeated 1/3/6/12/25
x2 Number you have defeated with Rock-type moves 1/2/5/10/20
Times you have seen it use Silver Wind 1/3/6/12/25
x2 Times you have seen it use Bug Buzz 1/3/8/20/40
Times you have seen it use a strong style move 1/3/6/12/25

The Research Level of an entry can go up one level if one of a Research Task’s objectives is met. However, when a Research Task objective is completed with a multiplier of x2, an entry receives two Research Levels instead of one. A Pokemon’s Pokedex entry must advance to Research Level 10 to be deemed complete.

To quickly complete Mothim’s Pokedex entry, the player can catch three Mothim without being spotted and defeat one more. These will tick the first, second, and third objectives of the “Number caught” Research Task to add six Research Levels thanks to its x2 multiplier; tick the first, second, and third objective of the “Number you have caught without being spotted” Research Task to gain three more Research Levels, then tick the first objective of the “Number defeated” Research Task to add one more Research Level to reach Research Level 10.
