A reliable insider has suggested that PS6 price tag might not be as exorbitant as we thought, with fans breathing a sigh of relief. The console seems a ways away from being revealed, but speculations about its price have been swirling ever since Sony announced its pricey PS5 Pro. However, our fears might just be unfounded.
New PS6 price rumor gives fans hope
Leaker MLID has once again gotten his hands on an internal Sony presentation, in which the company listed proposed specs for the PS6 and its accompanying handheld for partner AMD.
Without getting into a ton of technical jargon, MLID claims that the leaked specs are pretty conservative overall in that they will offer notable improvements over the PS5 but with a “heavy emphasis” on keeping costs low. As a result, MLID reckons that Sony might be able to keep PS6’s price in line with the PS5’s, to the tune of $499 for the digital model.
As for the handheld that’ll launch alongside PS6, MLID says that the specs proposed by Sony suggest that not only will the portable be cheaper than the PS6, but it’ll also compete with Nintendo Switch 2 on the pricing front.
Considering Switch 2 costs $449.99, our guess is the handheld will cost around $399.
Check out the full list of leaked specs over on ResetEra. Do bear in mind, though, that the presentation dates back to 2023. Sony’s plans may have changed since.
