2025’s Best PS5 First-Person Shooter So Far Already Discounted on PS Store

PS Store deal Doom: The Dark Ages

The Summer Sale has expanded. The latest PlayStation Store sales promotion features even more great PS4 and PS5 games at solid discounts. This includes the highest-rated first-person shooter of the year so far.

Doom: The Dark Ages is 25% off on the PS Store

Developed by id Software and published by Bethesda, Doom: The Dark Ages is currently 25% off on the PS Store. This brings the price down to $52.49 from its typical $69.99 price tag. Players who want to take advantage of this deal will want to act fast. The offer ends on August 14 at 2:59 a.m. ET.

“Doom: The Dark Ages is the prequel to the critically acclaimed Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal that tells an epic cinematic story worthy of the Doom Slayer’s legend. In this third installment of the modern Doom series, players will step into the blood-stained boots of the Doom Slayer, in this never-before-seen dark and sinister medieval war against Hell,” reads the game’s description.

According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, Doom: The Dark Ages is currently the highest-rated first-person shooter to release in 2025, reaching an average score of 85. Overall, it is the 24th highest rated game of the year, right below the likes of Mario Kart World, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, and The Roottrees are dead. In our review of Doom: The Dark Ages, we gave it a 9 out of 10.

“The addition of the shield helps the gameplay feel entirely fresh, with the parry system and melee combat helping it differentiate itself from Doom Eternal, which perfected the push-forward combat. With a varied campaign that features some truly stellar moments and boss encounters, this is one of the best PS5 shooters ever made,” reads our review.
